Hotel Cepina: a stone's throw from one of the best golf courses in the Alps

The “Fornace” golf course was designed by architect Mario Verdieri of St. Moritz. The guiding principle was to respect the original lay of the land: meadows and pastures sloping down towards the valley, in wide terraces supported by characteristic dry stone walls.

The construction work resulted in excellent fairways, spectacular and well-defended greens, and water hazards serving as reservoirs for the automatic irrigation system. The result is a course that fully reflects the golfer’s needs: non-repetitive situations, a course of just the right level of difficulty, challenging the expert and entertaining the beginner.

The Bormio course has 9 holes surrounded by greenery, each with its own distinct personality, including six par 4s and three par 3s.

Although the overall length of the course is not remarkable, each hole presents particular challenges, such as counter-sloping fairways, dense and resistant rough, and greens with slopes that are not always easy to interpret. Furthermore, the area where the golf course is located is affected by variable winds, often from the south, which can affect the trajectory of the ball, making it more challenging to play.
